Easy Bird Ornaments
What's a Christmas tree without a partridge? The dove is the symbol of peace and deserves a place on any Christmas tree. In this section, we'll show you how to make Christmas bird ornaments with easy step-by-step instructions.

You'll Need:
- 2-inch partridge
- Wire cutters
- 21/2-inch bark nest
- Hot glue gun, glue sticks
- 38 inches red satin picot-edged ribbon, 1/4 inch wide
- Tape measure or yardstick
- Scissors
- Moss
- Snip wire from bird's feet. Glue bird into opening of nest.
- Cut ribbon into following lengths: 8 inch, 24 inch, and 6 inch.
- Thread 8-inch length of ribbon through hook at top of nest.
- Tie an overhand knot 1/2 inch from ends for a hanger.

Arrange and glue moss around hook. - Make a 2-1/2-inch loopy bow from 24-inch length of ribbon. Tie off bow with 6-inch length of ribbon.
- Glue bow to moss in front of hook.
Ornament Tip! - Instead of moss, sprinkle on crystal glitter for a snow-covered look.
- Try a different type of bird: cardinal, blue jay, robin, or any other bird that strikes your fancy.

You'll Need:
- 1 sheet white paper, 80 pound
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Craft knife
- Pin
- Rubber cement
- 20 inches burgundy satin ribbon with picot edges, 1/4 inch wide
- Tape measure or yardstick
- Hot glue gun, glue sticks
- Download ornament pattern here. Print and cut out patterns.
- Trace patterns on paper.
- Cut out bird and wings with scissors and craft knife.

Cut out bird pattern with scissors. - Slice slits for wings where noted on pattern with craft knife.
- On back of paper, draw a line that follows the outline of wings and tail about 1/8 inch in from edge.
- Following lines, poke a pinhole through paper every 1/8 inch.

Poke a pinhole through paper. - Fold 1/2 inch of front of bird's head together, matching beaks. Glue head together with rubber cement.

Fold bird's hear to match the beaks. - Poke a pinhole through the paper at eye mark where indicated on pattern.
- Slide wings through slits, and center them.
- Cut ribbon into an 8-inch length and a 12-inch length. Fold 8-inch length of ribbon in half. Glue open ends to bird's body above shoulders where indicated on pattern for a hanger.

Slide ribbon over dove. - Make a 1-inch bow from 12-inch length of ribbon. Glue bow over ends of 8-inch length of ribbon.
